Sir Bobby Charlton believes Cristiano Ronaldo has finally rediscovered his best form after realising his long-term future lies with Manchester United.
The United legend says he expects the Portugal winger to match last season's achievements after he scored twice in the 5-0 victory over Stoke City to take his tally at United past the century mark.
"I think Cristiano thought about it and realised this is the best place for him," Charlton said. "With the best manager? Absolutely."
"His rate of scoring is fantastic. He had a great season last time around and is heading for another one. Cristiano's free-kicks have not been going in - but thankfully they did last weekend."
United lie eight points behind joint-leaders Chelsea and Liverpool with a game in hand, however, despite facing a difficult trip to Aston Villa on Saturday, Charlton is optimistic about United's chances in the long term.
"We have some catching up to do in the league, and Villa will be a hard match," he said. "But we are playing well - and if we are lucky with injuries and suspensions, we should be okay. We have some exciting players, and things are just beginning to happen."
