ROME (AFP) - MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi came off the track while testing a Ferrari at the Mugello circuit where early rain made conditions treacherous on Friday.
Rossi had gone for a three-lap spin in the morning before the rain caused him to stop and then tried again only to slide off after another 20 laps.
On Thursday, the Italian had posted some impressive times with a best lap of 1 min 23.930sec being only 3sec less than Ferrari's official test driver Luca Badoer and 5sec off the track record which Ferrari's Rubens Barrichello set in 2004.
Rossi, 29, insists, however, that he is only testing for fun and told the Gazzetta dello Sport he intends to "stay in MotoGP for at least another five years."
